Itinerary:
The following itinerary is typical of a cruise on the River Nile but may have slight variations.
Monday - Fly out to Luxor Depart from either Manchester or Gatwick for your flight to Luxor. On arrival, you will be greeted and transferred to your Nile cruise boat where you will be checked in. Overnight will be spent on-board in Luxor. Tuesday - Luxor In the morning, visit the Luxor Museum, and see some magnificent remains from the Pharaohnic period. These include pieces from the tomb of Tutankhamun. In the afternoon, visit the amazing Temple of Karnak, the largest ancient religious site in the world, and the well preserved Temple of Luxor on the East Bank. Overnight is spent on-board in Luxor. Wednesday - Luxor & Edfu In the morning, visit the awesome West Bank. Highlights include the Valley of the Kings, burial place of ancient Kings and Nobles and one of the world's most famous archeological sites; the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. In the afternoon, sail via Esna Lock to Edfu. Overnight is spent on-board in Edfu. Thursday Edfu, Aswan & Kom Ombo After breakfast, visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu, built of blocks made from sandstone and one of Egypt's best preserved temples. Continue your cruise along the River Nile to Kom Ombo, where you will visit the facsinating Temple of Sobek and Haroeris in the afternoon, before cruising on to Aswan. Overnight is spent on-board in Aswan. Friday Philae & Aswan Have breakfast and spend the day exploring the sights of Aswan. Begin with a visit to Aswan Dam and the Temple of Philae, which had to be relocated to the island of Agilika after the Dam was built. In the afternoon, take a relaxing trip on a felucca (type of boat) past the Agha Khan Mausoleum and Elephantine Island. Overnight is spent on-board in Aswan. Saturday Aswan & Edfu Spend the morning at leisure in Aswan, and take in the unique atmosphere. An optional (payable) excursion to amazing Abu Simbel is available from here. In the afternoon, sail from Aswan to Edfu. Overnight is spent on-board in Edfu. Sunday Edfu, Esna & Luxor In the morning, cruise the Nile from Edfu to the city of Esna. Visit the Temple of Khnum at Esna before cruising on to Luxor in the afternoon. Overnight is spent on board in Luxor. Monday Luxor After breakfast, disembark your cruise boat and transfer to Luxor airport for your return flight to the UK. *Please note that Esna Lock may be closed during the following dates due to maintenance work: November 30 - December 13 2009 June 1-30 2010 |
